FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
How high is the canopy
tour? The course varies in height from ground
level on our entry bridge walking to 18 feet above the ground
on our first platform to 120 feet above the ground when you
are zipping from our Rock Launch above the valley! On
average you will be about 50 feet off the ground.
How long are the zip
lines? The zip lines on our course vary from
145 feet in length to 1,100 feet.
Are canopy tour guides
permitted to accept gratuity? Yes,
gratuity is customary and much appreciated for our tour guides.
So if you enjoy your zip, feel free to tip!
Does the tour run in
the rain? Yes, we do operate in the
rain and many of our guests enjoy the rejuvenating experience.
Not only do you end up picking up some additional speed in
the rain, but the forest around you also comes alive! However,
we will cancel tours in the event of severe weather such as
lightning or high sustained winds. Remember to dress appropriately
for all weather types.
Can I bring a camera?
Yes, we encourage you to do so. Please make
sure your camera has a strap so we may attach it to you. Often
times smaller cameras are easier to handle out on course.
Tree Frog Canopy Tours is not responsible for any damage to
your camera or loss if dropped from course.
What should I bring?
Bring any medication with you that might
be needed at a moment’s notice; like an Epipen
or inhaler. Feel free to bring a camera
with a strap as well and money for tips if
you so choose.
How much does it cost?
Mondays through Fridays = $75/person
Weekends and Holidays = $85/person
Group rates require a minimum of 16 people
to receive a 10% discount Mondays through
Fridays and Sundays after 3:00pm. (For youth groups, please
call for pricing 740-599-2662)
Tuesdays are “Local Tuesdays”
for those that live or work in the Loudonville, Perrysville,
Glenmont or Danville area. You must have at least 4 people
in your party for the discounted rate of $60/person. Ohio
ID or Pay stub is required for discount.
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays are “FAMILY DAYS.” All
kids aged 10 – 17 will be $60 per kid. Reminder that
one adult is needed for every three kids.
What are your weight
requirements? Age requirements? All guests
must weigh between 90 – 250 pounds,
and be at least 10 years of age. Due to the
nature of our course, weight and strength are key as our zips
are much longer in length then most other tours. If you do
not weigh at least 90 pounds you will not make it along our
zips; therefore, you will not have fun as you will be self-rescuing
to get to the platforms. On the other end of things, if you
weigh more than 250 pounds, based on the standards set by
the Association of Challenge Course Technology you will exceed
the standards limits for safety.
How long will we be
in the trees? From gear up to gear down your
total tour experience will last between 2.5 and 3
hours. Your time in the actual trees will be about
2 hours.
Will I be safe on the
canopy tour? Our tour is composed
of state-of-the-art safety equipment. All of our
structures are built with redundant safety systems. You will
be clipped in at all times while on tour. Not only are you
clipped in at all times, but all of your gear including clipping
and unclipping is handled by our ACCT certified guides. All
of our guides pass a minimum 60 hour skills training course
including a written and practical exam. On-going training
and assessments are also required. Safety is our first priority
and you having an amazing canopy tour experience is our second!
Keeping this in mind, there are still inherent risks involved
with participating in a canopy tour that cannot be eliminated
without changing the nature of our tour.
How long is the zip
line course? Our canopy tour is composed of
4,025 feet of cable, consisting of seven
zip lines which is just under a mile!
Are reservations required?
Reservations are recommended. Each one of
our tour groups is limited to 8 participants and requires
2 guides. To enable us to provide you with the best experience,
we encourage you to make reservations. If you do not have
a reservation, we will do our best to accommodate you based
on space and guide availability.
What if I am afraid
of heights? We suggest that you do not use
the canopy tour to overcome an intense fear of heights; however,
if you are merely hesitant we encourage you to come
out and give Tree Frog Canopy Tours a shot. All of
our guides are used to working at heights and are very calming
and understanding. Plus, being in the trees is more about
forward movement along the zip lines enabling you to experience
nature in a new, exciting way. Ready for some spectacular
views? Come out to Tree Frog. You can do it!
Do you serve food on
site? We do have water and coke products
as well as light snacks available. We do not have
any alcohol on site, for those of you that are curious. We
also encourage you to bring food for a picnic as we do have
a number of picnic tables and space for your enjoyment, as
well as corn hole boards and ladder ball.
Will my cell phone work at Tree Frog?
No, unfortunately being rather far off the beaten
path your cell phones will not work here. You will
lose service depending on your provider coming down Wally
Road. Please be aware of this if your directions are not super
accurate. Wally Road changes from pavement to gravel/dirt
many times before you make it to us…. So just keep coming!
